Wallpaper Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I tell the quality of a wallpaper?

A: The quality of a wallpaper is measured mainly by the quality of the print and the quality of the paper. The quality of the print can be easily acknowledged by the sharpness and the definition of the pattern. As the paper should be dense, high quality wallpapers will be relatively heavy.

Q: How should I clean the wallpapers?

A: Although the Revival range is completely washable we advise you to clean the wallpaper using an old technique which will ensure the wallpaper does not get damaged: Use a piece of white bread and rub it over the wallpaper, this will remove all the grime.

Q: Do I need to seal the period wallpaper range?

A: The period wallpaper range doesn’t need to be sealed.

However we recommend sealing the wallpaper in case it is placed in a room which is potentially very dirty (i.e. the children’s room) using an acrylic sealer. This will ease the cleaning process.

Q: What are the average prices of a fitting service?

A: A fitting service would take 2-3 days for a reasonably sized room, it should cost about £200 per working day.

Q: How can I avoid variation in shades?

A: It is advisable to buy all the paper in advance in order to make sure you have the same batch number (there might be slight variations in shade in different batch numbers). We recommend buying at least one spare roll if needed in the future. In any case, it is advised to take a note of your batch number (written on the back your roll) in case you need to order more of the same wallpaper.

Q: How can I match the wallpaper to my room?

A: Wallpaper samples are very helpful when trying to match the wallpaper to a room. You can pin up the sample to the wall of your room and look at the sample at different hours of the day when the light is different. If you are still indecisive you can purchase a larger sized sample, hang it on the wall and live with it for a few days.

Q: Can the wallpapers be removed?

A: Although we don’t believe you would want to remove your beautiful period wallpapers it is important to know that should you want to remove it, this shouldn’t be a problem. In case your wallpaper isn’t sealed, wet the wall and let the paper soak the water. (This step requires some patience).

If the wallpaper is sealed you would have to pull the top piece off – we advise to consult a professional.

Q: How long should I let the paste dry?

A: When pasting a wallpaper carefully follow the directions indicated on the box. It normally takes 15 minutes waiting time for the paper to soak the adhesive prior to attaching it to the wall and 24 hours for it to completely dry out, however this may vary depending on climate conditions.

Q: Can I fit the new wallpaper over an old one?

A: We don’t recommend pasting a new wallpaper over an old one unless it is completely flat and clean.

Q: How can I measure the quantity needed:

A:

1. Calculate the square metres of the walls:

* Square metre of room: Measure each wall in the room, add 20% to the measures (to allow for repeat and trimming) and multiply the length times the width.

* Measure the windows and doors (length multiply by width)

* Subtract the square metre of the windows, doors, etc. from the square metre of the walls.

2. Divide the square metre of the walls by the square metre of a roll (indicated in the product specification).

If you are not sure about the measure we recommend consulting a fitter.
