Fitting Instructions (Guide)

Adhesive

The Revival range of period wallpapers do not require any special fitting method, however it must be hung using pure cellulose paste.

The adhesive must have a thick consistency and be applied liberally.

Cellulose paste wets lengths less than starch adhesives, and reduces the risk of e.g. penetration.

Our wallpaper expert advises that you use a ready mixed paste. Although these might be slightly more expensive, the ready mixed pastes ensure better results for those who don’t have experience in mixing pastes.

Preparations

It is recommended to prepare the walls prior to the fitting: The walls should be sound and sealed and then cross lined with a lining paper. Lay the lining paper horizontally so that the joints don’t line up, you need to cross line that and lay the wallpaper over the lining.

Inspect the goods before hanging.

Cut or tear the length with due consideration for ceiling height and pattern matching. The bottom of the pattern is first off the roll!

Brush a liberal amount of paste on the back of the length

Fold the length in towards the middle from both ends.

Allow the length of the wallpaper to expand. Expansion times: white paper reverse = approx. 10 min. Brown/ grey paper reverse = approx. 5 minutes.

Hanging

Begin hanging where light enters the room (e.g. by the window)

Wash away any paste residue from the front of the wallpaper. Use clean water, a sponge or cloth and a “light touch”. Avoid mechanical abrasion.

General Advise

Although this high quality wallpaper range can be fitted by anyone used to hanging wallpaper, we recommend people without previous experience consult the services of a professional fitter.

The Revival range is suitable for any household room, however when fitting the wallpaper in a kitchen, bathroom or utility room the wallpaper should be coated with an appropriate sealer made for this purpose. To avoid a shiny effect make sure the sealer is acrylic based. In dry rooms the wallpaper does not need to be covered.

The Revival’s pattern widths vary between 47cm and 43cm. Patterns pre-dating 1950 often have widths of 47 cm.
